P.O.D. - October 31, 2008, 08:10:23 PM by mouse
POD, otherwise known as Payable on Death. They started making their sound around the early to mid 90's. Originally the Vocalist wasn't Christian, but tha tchanged when his mother died. Why did he convert whe nshe died, i do not know, nor do i question it. POD has a uniqe sound that can't be found anywhere else. Incorperating genres such as Hard rock, Regae, and Nu Metal, which incorperates a mixture of Rap and rock. Their first BIG album was Satellite. I have been listening to them for the past 7 years or so, but not on a regular basis. I used to when Satilite came out, and I'd listen to it when we too ktrips to my aunts house or so. Satilite contained hits such as, Alive, Stailite, Boom Youth of the Nation, and my personal favorite; Ridiculous.

Tilt:8/10
Over all: Unless you don't mind listening to a band that's christian, I suggest check them out if you haven't already.

Saberlin's Music Review - Coheed & Cambria "No World for Tomorrow" - October 26, 2008, 11:34:09 PM by Saberlin
Coheed & Cambria - No World for Tomorrow (October 2007)

Coheed & Cambria came out of the abyssal depths of progressive rock to burn up CD drives everywhere with their newest full-length album: No World for Tomorrow. It's looked at around the country as Coheed's best work yet, and I have to agree. With suave lyrics, unique and fluent vocals, mind-blowing guitar riffs, chest-thumping rhythms and an impressive sound throughout; NWFT proves to be simply, a rock masterpiece. Co & Ca gives what every modern progressive rock fan craves: creativity, talent, and a powerful signature sound and feel -- without the obnoxiousness of past works. Crank up songs like No World for Tomorrow, The Hound, and Justice in Murder, and prepare for an orgasmic rock experience. Listening to No World for Tomorrow is like a great lay; it's tasty, it's addicting, and the noise pisses off the neighbors. Pay no heed to them though, they're just jealous that they're not rocking the house.

Final rating: 9.5/10

Incubus - October 26, 2008, 09:16:21 PM by mouse
Normally when some peopel hear the word Incubus they think of the evil spirit that impregnates women when they sleep. I will not be talking about them today. I will be talking about the band Incubus.

Incubus can be a little difficult to catagoriez. They use turn-table, and your tradional band equipment (guitar, bass, dums, vocals, ect.) The turn-tables bring a sense of extreme variety to the bands sound. Used in almost every song, or atleats a large variety of them, they add a bit of ambeince to the tunes.

Brandon Boyd:Lead Vocals
Mike Einziger:Lead Guitar
Jose Pasillas:Drums
Chris Kilmore:Turntables/Keyboards
Ben Kenney:Bass

Brandon has also realesed 2 book so far. Each containing various drawing of pictures that has worked their way into his mind. I have yet to get one, but from what i've heard, I reccomend any fan get one.

Incubus is a multi-grammy-nominated band. If that doesn't mean much to you. Then maybe the fact that they play shows for free that benifet to finding cures towards diabetes, aids, and other diseases, will. Originating in southeren Cali (i might be wrong). Science, the bands second album, is what really set the band off. It took 6 weeks to finish. Most albums, depending on how much material and how long the songs are, can generally take from a month-3 months to finish. Although it is not unheard of for a band to finish an album that quickly, it is still rare.

Make yourself, whitch featured the famous, Pardon Me, Drive, and Stellar tarcks, can be considered the bands best work.

Overall: A very good alternative band worht a few listens.

311 - October 13, 2008, 09:34:58 PM by mouse
I'm sure more people know about 311 then i would guess but o well. 311, originally formed in Omaha Nebrask, (about a few hours drive from where i live i might add) Nick Hexum, Saint, and Chad went to highschool together. P-nut and Tim joined the band a little bit after the signed their first record deal. P-nut went to highschool with Nick and them as well, but moved to Cali for a littlew while until Saint asked him to join the band, which was known as 411 at the time. They later changed the name to 311 due to legal issues. A press conference was held in Cali around mid '97-'98 regarding the meaning of their name. 311 does NOT stand for kkk. They have elemnts of reggae in their music, which was created in the caribbean. While traveling on tour one year, their van the yrode in for a long time, caught on fire jst outside of the city they were to play in. All their equipment was destroyed in the process, along with money, passports, valuables, everything, gone. So not having anything to play at the next show, wasn;t sure what to do. So some loyal fans deicde to give them their stuff to use, as well as keep. Talk about being a loyal fan. But i'm sure everyband has some of those kinds of fans. So the show went on as planned. Sometime in the early 2000's while a show was taking place, a man decicded to jump off of a 50 foot balcony and hoped that the people below would catch him. Wrong! They moved out of the way and the man fell to the ground, HARD! PAramedics were called in and the show was either cancelled or postponed, I can't remember which. But later on their site 311 discussed what happened and why the man did what he did. They asked the fans to not do anything like that, because the wouldn't want to see anyone get hurt at one of there shows.

311 isn't all about the groovy reggae all the times, some of there faster songs are really catchy and can have you singing along in a few replays. While not the most poular band of all time. 311 does what they need ot to thrive in an ever increasingly difficult world.

Overall: Give 'em a chance, might just liek what you hear. ??/10

Nico Nico Douga Artists - October 11, 2008, 11:53:30 PM by mouse
Nico Nico. While it's not as popular in the US as it is in Japan, Nico Nico has a MASSIVE following. And that's not an overstatement. Nico Nico originally began as a Japanese version of Youtube. Eventually people began mixing songs together, and surprising it's good. There are currently atleast 100 versions of the song. Ranging from Rock to Classical Japanese Instruments. And pretty much everything in between. I personally guarantee that anyone who listens to Nico Nico, will find one version enjoyable. The song normally last about 10 mins, But some version last up to15, and some last as little as 4.

Tilt:8/10

Overall: Something for everyone, just a matter of finding it.

BucketHead Review - October 11, 2008, 06:07:55 PM by mouse
Bucket Head, is he a shredder or a emotionally talented guitarist? Truth is, he cannot be categorized so easily. One minute you'll hear him ripping some insane chords and and tearing up the fret board, and the next, he'll be playing his slower, more emotionally driven tunes, which have been know to make people cry. not much is know about BH. Some say he grew up raised by chickens, others say he came from a far off universe. All that is ultimately know about this him is that he can turn the heaviest rapper, int a sniveling baby, just by the notes that have been struck by him. Having toured with many bands such as Primus, G'N'R, Gorgone, and others. He learned how to play guitar when he was around the age of twelve. Taught by Steve Vai, another Famous instrumental Guitarist back in the 80's. It's no wonder he became as good as he is today. Some famous songs by BH include, Jordan, Wishing Well, I love my Parents, The Spoke on the Wheel of Torment, WhiteWash and many others. BucketHead is in fact one of the bets guitarists in the world. Ranked 8th fastest shredder, with Micheal Angelo Batio coming in 1st. Most bands require vocals to invoke emotions from their audiences, BucketHead requires no vocals in the slightest. Having released many albums, each has a different tone and sound to it. No single Genre came be slapped on BH. To do so is an Insult. Also, there was one album where vocals where present. Enter the Chicken, which featured Serj Tankian.

NEW! Saberlin's music review: Staind - "The Illusion of Progress" - October 10, 2008, 09:37:11 PM by Saberlin
Staind - The Illusion of Progress (August 2008)

An illusion of progress, indeed. If anything, Staind seems to be going in the opposite direction of "progress" with their newest CD, The Illusion of Progress. I was a bit dissappointed when I heard this album. It seemed lacking in the creativity and uniqueness that made 14 Shades and Break the Cycle great. Staind seems to have given up their angst-fueled hardcore alternative uniqueness for a softer, twangy, more Hollywood-saturated sound that leaves much to be desired from any Staind fan. The ballsy thrash that pointed the finger at the human race which made us love this band, is pushed aside and replaced with bland, tasteless self-downtalk and boring guitar riffs. Despite all the negative talk, there's still something enjoyable left in The Illusion, but not nearly as much as I'd hoped. Tacked on at the end of the CD are three live acoustic songs, "It's Been Awhile", "Devil", and "Schizophrenic Conversations" which would be great, if Aaron had sang more in tune.

Final score: 6/10

Saberlin's Music Review - Opeth "Watershed" 2008 - October 04, 2008, 11:17:19 PM by Saberlin
Hey AM, I'd like to introduce Saberlin's Music reviews. I'll give a review and rating for a new or newish Album every week, and will follow a format similar to this one. Here's my first review on Opeth's newest CD, Watershed. Enjoy!

Opeth - Watershed (June 2008)

If you're looking to strap into a thrill ride through a colorful and vast array of all things that are alt/prog rock and metal, this is what you're looking for. Opeth's newest CD, Watershed, was just released this summer and it delivers all you could hope for, and more, in full technicolor. This album is packed full of power-laden thrash, commanding rhythm, striking melody and inspiring instrumentals. If you've never heard Opeth before, don't let the first first couple of songs on this CD fool you into thinking you know what this band sounds like. If you could draw any conclusion this early on, it would be that they're awesome. Watershed delivers pure unadulturated musical talent in a way that's so refreshing, it's like giving the mainstream a golden shower. They will take you gently up a rollercoaster's slope with soothing melodicals, then throw you careening over the peak with the most creative thrash that packs a punch so hardcore it'll keep you coming back for more, just like...oh, you know what that's like.

Final score: 9/10
